The eleventh week of Yahoo’s Fantasy Baseball covered games between Monday, June 10 to Sunday, June 16, 2019. Ondskans Imperium took on the Yankees, who sit a place ahead of us in the standings. It should have been the perfect week to gain some ground towards a playoffs spot, but in the end, everything stayed just like it was before the matchup started, thanks to a 5-5 tie.
TRANSACTIONS
If you remember correctly, last week we posted our mega all-stars on the trading block. Only one team made us an offer. To be honest, they made four. We decided to agree to the league’s first trade of the season by swapping starting pitchers Noah Syndergaard (SP-NYM) for Domingo German (SP-NYY).
Life is funny in the sense that German went straight to the IR with a hip injury and only a few days after that Syndergaard joined him on the IR with a hamstring issue. At the moment there is no clear cut winner for the trade since bother players went down shortly after the approval, but the actual winner will be determined by who bounces back upon their return.

MATCHUP AND SCORES
At the end of the day, we were happy with a 5-5 tie. Based on the scoring differences, we were lucky to get anything out of the matchup. When you get smoked by 21 runs and 16 RBIs you have to make up ground somewhere else. Lucky for us, our pitching staff came through with their two saves, a lower ERA, and WHIP. This matchup was really up for grabs until the very end.
Things looked bleak on Monday and Tuesday. The potential to be blown out was there, but the matchup changed in our favour on Wednesday. Then for the next four days, we clung to a lead that would disappear by the time the final out was recorded on Sunday.
STANDINGS AND TEAM STATS
You can’t win them all, so after a huge victory and a tie, we find ourselves on the outside looking in still. Week 11 was the perfect opportunity to take a leap in the standings and take down a team (Yankees) we were chasing, but it didn’t happen. Yes, a tie is better than a loss, but it’s the end of June now, and we got to stop spinning our tires in the mud.
Here are some funny tidbits. We are the only team that hasn’t hit 100 home runs yet. We are the third-best team in saves and the third-best team when it comes to winning the same category. Even in the three pitching categories where we are first in overall points, we are not the leaders in matchup wins. Odd, to say the least.
It also amazes us that teams have nine wins in specific categories. We thought we had stellar starting pitching rotation, but we are nowhere near 9-1-1 in matchup wins. Our biggest question has to be how does a team go 9-1-1 in stolen bases when some weeks no one steals any bases? Baseball truly is a funny game.
THE BENCH PLAYERS
The hitting categories were so lopsided that even the guys I sat would have done nothing to contribute to a victory. The fact we only managed 38 runs and left seven on the bench, meant we would have lost the category by 14 instead of 21.
