During our week 11 matchup, we got pumped again. It is the fourth time during the seven-game losing streak that we have given up seven or eight category wins.
The stress of managing a losing team finally got to management who blew the entire project up.
MATCHUP AND SCORES
For the second straight week, we got completely shut out in the goalie categories. There is a lot of blame to go around, and despite their best efforts, the goalies are now included in our struggles.
We barely won the penalty category (two minutes) and hung on for the shots on goal category by 11 points.
The rest of the categories were not that close, considering we got outscored by six goals, eight assists, and 10 power-play points. Plus and minus has been a sore spot all year, so it was only fitting we were seven points worse.
For the third time this season, we finished with a sub 0.900 save percentage, which coincided with our second worse goals-against average.
Top of the Rock trailed the entire matchup, which looked bleak from Wednesday to Saturday. If it wasn’t for a bounce-back performance on Sunday, we were on the verge of being shut out for the first time this season.
STANDINGS & TEAM STATS
Every week we get closer to the last place than we do to sixth place.
Professional statistical analysis will look at this team and wonder how we could be the second worse team in the league. We are in the top two of six of the ten categories, yet possess the league’s 11th best record.
BENCH PLAYERS
The bench players would have had no impact on the final outcome of the matchup.
STUDS & DUDS
Best Player – Alex Ovechkin – Washington Capitals – 22 points
Worse Player: Jacob Trouba – New York Rangers – 3 points
