Pinstripe Bowl dropped to 2-3 on the season after suffering the league’s worse defeat of the week, 158.10-124.22, to Chod’s Team.
Despite the sub 0.500 record, the Bowl actually moved up a spot in the standings and currently hang out in fifth place.
The Bowl jumped out to an early 21.60 point lead on Thursday night. Things continued to look good as the early games started on Sunday morning. Chod’s team then went on to score 135.00 points for the day compared to our 69.82. They took the lead late on Sunday afternoon and cruised to an easy victory, despite the 32.90 points we managed to score during the Monday and Tuesday games.
Week five turned out to be the first time this season that both the starters and bench players failed to meet their projections. The starters missed the mark by 4.78 points, and the bench was worse with 6.81 points.
Only four starters exceeded their projections, with only one player going over five points. Our kicker, Ryan Bullock (Cincinnati), scored the only points of his game, while our defence, Tampa Bay, imploded against the Chicago Bears on Thursday night.
We had two players who failed to meet their goals by double digits, while only one player went above and beyond by 13.24 points.
Every team managed to score at least 100 points, with two teams compiling over 150. Despite the loss, The Bowl still managed the sixth-best point total of the week.
It only took five weeks, but the teams are finally starting to separate in the standings. Defending champions Lamar, the Merrier are currently riding a two-game losing streak and now sit in a third-place tie with Pleasantly Plump. KerryMy Johnson and Chod’s Team both improved to 4-1 and sit in the top spots.
Pinstripe Bowl finds itself in a five-team tie for fifth place with the other 2-3 teams. We get to sit at the top of the pile because of our 673.48 points scored. Despite our place in the standings, we are a negative team with a differential of 19.34 points.
Chase Claypool (Pittsburgh) went from the Canadian Football League to AFC Player of the Week in a shocking twist of events. Thanks to an injury, Claypool stepped up and walked all over the Philadelphia Eagles with four touchdowns. His totals were about 14 points higher than our best player, Kyler Murray (Arizona).
We used our first waiver claim of the season in week five to grab former franchise hero Tom Brady, who now plays for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Brady threw for five touchdowns in week four, so the future Hall of Famer was on fire. His role will be to fill in for Murray when he goes on the bye in week eight.
Weekly Move Total: 1/4
Season Move Total: 7/50
